Mr. Charles G. Johnson

Mr. Charles G. Johnson, age 88, passed away April 26, 2017 in Clarksdale, MS. The family will receive friends Monday, May 1, 2017 from 1:00p.m. until 2:00p.m., followed by the service at 2:00p.m. at National Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Charles G. Johnson was a retired employee of Coahoma Road Department , as well as a member of Cleveland Lutheran Church. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.  He was a member of the Clarksdale VFW, Elks Lodge, and the American Legion.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Becky Johnson, of Clarksdale, MS; daughters, Brenda (Ronnie) Havens of Biloxi, MS; Rita Bailey of Crowder, MS; Cindy Hensley of Casseville, MO; April Johnson of Clarksdale, MS; and Mary Johnson of Clarksdale, MS; son, Bill (Ann) Ainsworth of Clarksdale, MS; his brother, James (Carol) Johnson of Enterprise, AL; and his “special gal,” Harlyn Smith of Clarksdale, MS, as well as 8 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Corine Shields Frank, age 95, passed away peacefully April 6, 2017 in Tampa, Florida. The family will receive friends Friday, April 14, from 9a.m. until 10a.m. at National Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow at 10a.m. at National Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

Mrs. Frank was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church and retired from working for the State of Mississippi Welfare Department. Her family was her passion and she lived most of her life in her beloved Clarksdale, MS, prior to moving to Tampa.  Mrs. Frank was preceded in death by her parents, Lucious and Ova Johnson Shields; her husband, William Edgar Frank; and her son, William Edgar Frank, Jr.  She is survived by her son, Martin (Linda) Frank, grandchildren Susan (Craig) Pennington, Martin Frank, Jr., and Logan (Chrystie) Frank; and great-grandchildren Avery Pennington, Gavin Frank and baby Frank, due in August.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Home.

Mrs. Nell Morgan

Clarksdale, MS

Mrs. Nell Yeager Morgan, age 88, passed away Tuesday, April 04, 2017 at Merit Health Center in Clarksdale, MS. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until the service time beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of National Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Clarksdale, MS.

Mrs. Morgan, born in Helm, MS was a member of Clarksdale Baptist Church and Lamplighter Choir, a retired LPN from Merit Health Center in Clarksdale,MS.  Mrs. Morgan was also a member of VFW Auxiliary, Clarksdale, MS and Clarksdale Nursing Register.

Mrs. Morgan is survived by her daughter, Terri (Kenny) Wiltshire, of Clarksdale, MS.; her son, Glenn (Jana) Morgan, of Sumner, MS.; her sister, Juanita (Larry) Stevenson, of Stewart, MS.; one brother, Jimmy Yeager, of Greenville, MS.; and four grandchildren, David Morgan of Savannah, GA, Rebecca Leigh Dein of Brenham, TX, Traci Michelle Barham of Hamilton, MS, and Bryan Alan Christian of Coffeeville, MS; eight great-grandchildren, Trinity Erin Morgan of Savannah, GA, Keira Elizabeth Morgan of Savannah, GA, Will Dein of Brenham, TX, Alana Bailey Dein of Brenham, TX, Candi Michelle Bradley of Clarksdale, MS, Alexis Harris of Hamilton, MS, Evan Hayes Christian of LuRan, MS, and Sadie Lynn Christian of LuRan, MS; and one great-great-grandchild, Sereniti Storm-Dyer of Clarksdale, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Neil Morgan, as well as her parents, John and Rachael Yeager, and five brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Kenneth "Kenny" Drew age 78, passed away March 7, 2017, Clarksdale, MS. The family will receive friends at a catered reception March 8, 2017 beginning at 1:00 p.m. until funeral service time 2:00 p.m. at National Funeral Home Chapel, Clarksdale, MS. Interment will be Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Clarksdale, MS.

Mr. Drew was  a member of Clarksdale Church of God,  a Veteran of United States Air Force, and a member of Clarksdale American Legion.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Mary Hood Drew of Clarksdale, MS ; one daughter Michelle Drew Martinez of Lincoln, NE ; one son Tony (Connie) Drew of Lincoln, NE;  three step-daughters Debra (Flip) Fouche, Pricilla (Doug) Singley, Angel Johnson all of Carrollton, MS; one step-son Bobby Wayne (Annette) Hood of Kosciusko, MS; sisters Elsie Monty of Southaven MS, and Linda Jenkins of Clarksdale, MS, two brothers, Ronnie (Claire) Drew and  Larry Drew both of Clarksdale, MS, five grandchildren Noah Drew, Niqui Drew, Rosalinda Cruze, Reno Martinez, and Morelia Martinez; five great-grandchildren,  thirteen step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Wessie Drew.

Ms. Violet W. Curry, age 83, passed away Wednesday February 08, 2017 at Bolivar Long-term Care in Cleveland, MS. The family will receive friends at a catered reception on Monday February 13, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the service time beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of National Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Clarksdale, MS.

Ms. Curry was retired from Coahoma County School System.

Ms. Curry is survived by her son Rickey Lee (Cathy) Curry of Exeter, CA., her two sisters Margaret (Glenn) Dacus of Natchitoches, LA., Peggie Fioranelli of Cleveland, MS., one brother Donald (Shirley) Whittington of Duncan, MS., and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank & Katherine Whittington, two sons Edward Lamar and Frank Byron Curry,two sisters Odell McGuire and Doris Cotton and one brother J.C. Whittington.
