Sheri Lynn Whitlock Morgan

Sheri Lynn Whitlock Morgan, 57, passed away November 5, 2017. The family will receive friends Friday (Nov 10) at the Millington Chapel from 5pm until 8pm. A service will be held Saturday at First United Methodist Church Millington at 11:00am. She is survived by her husband, Brett Alan Morgan, daughters, Rachel Crawley, Sara Brown, Caraline Alissa Morgan; sons, Joshua Duncan, Michael Alan Morgan, Zachary Clarke Morgan; parents Tommy and Ginger Whitlock; sister, Terri Schaeffer; six grandchildren. Sheri was a lifelong resident of Millington, TN and attended Millington South Elementary School and Tipton Rosemark Academy. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she served on numerous Boards and in past years served as the Youth Leader. Sheri's 35+ years of service to others began in earnest upon graduating from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. Throughout her nursing career she worked in a variety of fields of medicine. She was Head Nurse at Methodist North Hospital when the OB unit was created allowing her to have a hand in bringing many beautiful lives into the world. She moved to the front lines of caregiving when she transferred to the Emergency Department and eventually served as the Nurse Manager for the Methodist North Hospital's and the Baptist Collierville Hospital’s Emergency Department. She was currently working for United BioSource aiding in the treatment of children with rare diseases such as juvenile diabetes. Many of her friends and neighbors, to which she ministered through the years, affectionately referred to her as "Nurse Sheri".

MASH LogoSheri spearheaded the founding of MASH - Millington Animal Safe Haven. Through MASH hundreds of unwanted adult dogs and puppies received medical treatment and a warm dry foster home, and were ultimately adopted by a loving family. Through her efforts with MASH she gained an extended family and became known to the rescue community as "Mama Sheri". In her eyes Sheri's greatest achievement and joy were her children (Rachel, Joshua, and Sara) and her grandchildren (Emma, Wyatt, Nolan, Matthew, Savannah and Brayden). She loved deeply the children brought to her through her marriage to Brett (Michael, Zachary, and Caraline). The full and rich life her children provided her was the heartbeat behind all she was able to achieve. To her children she is simply "La". Sheri did not serve out of a desire for personal glory but out of love – love of people, love of animals, and love of family. The endearing names that those who knew and loved her used were her medals and all the glory she needed. Now Heaven has received our "Nurse Sheri", our "Mama Sheri", our "La". To God be the glory!

The family requests any memorials be made to the ASPCA (www.aspca.org/donate) or the National Breast Cancer Foundation (https://donate.nationalbreastcancer.org).
