Judson 'Jud' Robert Tietz

Judson 'Jud' Robert Tietz, age 40, of Millington and Knoxville, TN died on May 23, 2013 in Williston, ND.  Jud was raised in Millington, TN and graduated from Millington Central High School in 1990 before attending the University of TN Knoxville where he played in the UT Marching Band. After college, he had a career and his own business as a fence builder and was well known for his skill.  He decided to change his life and career last year by moving to North Dakota to join in the petroleum rush there. Jud had been married twice to Shana Farrell of TN and Rachel Allan Tietz of Ohio and has a daughter from his last marriage, Peyton Tietz, age 5.  He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lowrie Tietz and is survived by his sisters, Mary (Tietz) Girling MD of Jackson Hole, WY and Sarah (Tietz) Lampert of Puyallup, WA as well as his daughter, Peyton Tietz of Middletown, Ohio. Jud will be remembered by all who knew him for his love of family, generosity of heart, great sense of humor, and his extraordinary musical talent. Visitation and Memorial service will be at Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel on Sunday, June 2 between 2 and 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Judson Tietz Memorial Fund for Peyton Tietz at Wells Fargo Bank.

Bevelyn 'Bev' Mason Holley

Bevelyn " Bev" Mason Holley, 59, of Bartlett, TN., woke up Wednesday morning taking care of things in this world, and woke up Thursday, May 23, in the arms of Jesus. Bev was a member of the Methodist Hospital Team for 36 years and  a member of Bartlett Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Holley of Bartlett, TN; two sons, Mark Holley (Bethany) of Bartlett, TN and Tommy Holley (Gennifer) of Sarasota, FL; six grandchildren, Madison Holley, Jadon Holley, Hudson Holley, Carrington Holley, Devyn Foley, and Jordan Holley; parents, Raymond L. Mason and Evelyn T. Mason; one brother, Raymond 'Tim' Mason (Titus); one niece, Rachel Mason and her Methodist Hospital family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Mason. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 28 from 9:00 - 11:00 am with the service at 11:00 am at the  Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel.  Interment will be at MemphisMemoryGardens. Memorials may be made to Bartlett Baptist Church.

Melissa Y. Carver

Melissa Y. Carver, 18, of Millington passed away May 17, 2013 in Jackson, TN. Miss Carver loved to sing and dance and spend time with her family. She is survived by her parents, Lee and Donna Carver of Lucy, TN; sisters, Maria Sherman, Jackie Davis, and Samantha Wright; brothers, Rev. Barron Rouse, Jr, Jaylen Carver, and Jajulen Carver. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 22, from 5-8 p.m. at the Millington Chapel, and a service Thursday, May 23 at First United Pentecostal Church in Millington at 1 p.m. Interment to follow in Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford, TN.

Selma Cleveland Stratton Jr., 72, of Millington, retired machinist for MLGW and a Navy veteran, passed away May 4, 2013. Sonja White-Simpson

Sonja White-Simpson, 49, managing attorney with Memphis Area Legal Services Domestic Violence Family Court Unit since 2001, passed away May 4, 2013. Visitation was held Thursday, May 9  from 6-8 p.m., with a service at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10 both at East Side Baptist Church, with interment in Memphis Memory Gardens. A few of her many achievements include being a member of the Memphis Bar Association, Board President of the Memphis Area Women’s Council, Woman of Achievement Vision Award Winner in 2009, past chairman of Memphis & Shelby County Domestic Violence Council, and was appointed by the County Commission to the Shelby County Unified Family Court Task Force in 2007. She is survived by her husband, David Wayne Simpson; daughters, Saige Ruth Simpson and Chelsea Ann Simpson; son, David Michael (Constance) Simpson; sisters, Ina (Omoh Blessing) Oriwoh, Gwendolyn (Kenneth) Partee, and Vanessa (Myles) Britt; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
