Mr. Robert "Hot" Pinion

Marks, MS

Mr. Robert "Hot" Pinion, age 75 , passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016 in Oxford, MS. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with the services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Lambert Cemetery.

Mr. Pinion was a retired  farmer and chemical salesman. He was a member of Fitler & Lake Charles Hunting Club, Ducks Unlimited and the Lions Club of Lambert, MS. He was also a former board member of Delta Academy. Mr. Hot  often used his BBQ skills to show his love for the community & others.

"Hot" is survived by his wife, Carolyn Pinion of Lambert, MS; daughters, Angie (Chris) Crawford of Lambert MS, Tammye (Donnie) Durham of Southaven, MS; sister, Deloris (Milton) Campbell of New Albany, MS, four grandchildren, Chandler Crawford, Hayden Crawford, Parker Durham & Carley Durham.  A host of loving nephews and nieces also survive Mr. Hot. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer & Louise Pinion, sisters, Betty Sharpe, Ruth Slaughter, Linda Martin and brothers, Glen Pinion and Mike Pinion.

Mr. Gary L. Pinion

Marks, MS

Mr. Gary Lee Pinion, age 69, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 in Oxford, MS. A family memorial will be held at a later date.

Mr. Pinion was retired from F.O. James Gas Company and was a member of Sarah Baptist Church and the V.F.W. He is survived by the love of his life of 50 years, Shirley Pinion of Sledge, MS; sons, James William (Laurie) Pinion of Gales Ferry, CT and Gary Charles Pinion of Sledge, MS; sister, Mona (Ken) Harrison of Florida and brothers, Wayne (Sharon) Pinion of Southaven, MS, Larry Pinion of California and Jesse (Janet) Davis of Coldwater, MS. Mr. Pinion was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Elizabeth Pinion; son, John Wayne Pinion; sister, Vicky Pinion and brothers, Bedford Davis and R.B. Davis.

Mrs. Evelyn Ross Adams

Marks, MS.

Mrs. Evelyn Ross Adams, age 94, passed away Sunday, January 03, 2016 in Valley Village, CA. Family will receive friends at a catered reception on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Kimbro Funeral Home Chapel.  A memorial service for Mrs. Adams will be on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 3:00 pm at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Marks, MS. Interment to follow in Marks Cemetery.

Mrs. Adams was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses and was baptized in 1941. In Mrs. Adams' later years, she began hybridizing day lilies with her son and sold new varieties  of day lilies by mail order catalogs. She was a retired school teacher with the Public School Systems. She is survived by her daughter, Ann A. Sorensen of Truman, AR, son, Phillip R. Adams of Valley Village, CA. Two grandsons also survive Mrs. Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilkes Aubrey Adams, parents, Jesse and Ellen Ross; and her sister, Miriam Burdine.

Mr. Michael P. Young

Marks, MS

Mr. Michael Patrick Young, age 43, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 in Marks, MS. Family will receive friends at a catered reception on Friday, January 01, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Kimbro Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 02, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Goodwill Worship Center (Church of God) with interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS.

Mr. Young was employed as a Chemistry teacher at Delta Academy in Marks, MS where he was a three time Star Teacher. Mr. Young attended Humphreys Academy in Belzoni, MS where he was an All Star football player & Eagle Scout. He graduated from Mississippi Delta College and Delta State University, obtaining an M.S., B.A. & Associates Degree. While attending college, he was also a cheerleader.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Kimberly Woods Young of Marks, MS; parents, Ronnie (Pam) Young of Belzoni, MS; brother, Ronnie (Leisa) Young of Sarasota, FL; maternal grandmother, Doris Houston of Greenwood, MS; two nieces, one nephew, two great nieces and one great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Felton Houston and his paternal grandparents John Young and Rita Bumpus.

Mr. James "Jim" Mitchell Jr.

Marks, MS

Mr. James "Jim" Mitchell Jr., age 70, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ms. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 01, 2015 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Marks Cemetery with a Graveside service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Marks Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell was retired owner and manager of Marks Pool Hall where he was known for his famous burgers, especially the chili-cheese burger. He is survived by his sister, Margaret "Peggy"(Bob) Arentson of Jackson, MS. and his brother, Charles Rivers Mitchell of Marks, MS. Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret Mitchell Sr.

Mrs. Ruth B. Gordon, age 76, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at her residence. Mrs. Gordon was retired from Garan Inc. in Lambert, MS., was a member of the Love Sunday School Class at West Marks Baptist Church where she was also a faithful member. She is survived by her daughters, Candy (David) Henson of Marks, MS, Mandy (Jeff) Ray of Marks, MS, Sandy (David) Toliver of Ballwin, MO; sisters, Dorris (Gene) Horn of Clarksville, TN, Carolyn (Hot) Pinion of Lambert, MS and Melinda Toliver of Lambert, MS; grandchildren, Ashley (Angie) Henson of Southaven, MS, Amber (Jon) Watson of Starkville, MS, Allie Toliver of Brandon, MS, Jennifer (Van) Camponovo of Shelby, MS and a host of very special nieces, nephews and friends. Ms Skillion was preceded in death by her father, James K. Gardner and sister, Jaime Gardner Forseman.
